Algo Music Playlist
Some of my current middle school students have been checking out this blog and asking for a new post so here is a little gift for them. Music has always been an important part of my life- moving, inspirational, cathartic. As I get older my taste has widened but my core playlists haven’t. I’ve almost given up trying to convince people to listen to some of the artists I love, but you young kids need to hear some real soul music. It’s true, like the old movies, they just don’t make them like this anymore.
So here is a playlist of songs I think you might be moved by.
- Everyday People/ Stand (Sly and the Family Stone)
- What’s Going On (Marvin Gaye)
- Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing (Stevie Wonder)
- You’ve Got A Friend (James Taylor)
- You’ve Got A Friend/ Beautiful (Carole King)
- Move On Up (Curtis Mayfield)
- Up From The Skies (Jimi Hendrix)
- Lean On Me (Bill Withers)
- Colour My World/ Saturday In The Park (Chicago)
- Shower The People (James Taylor)
- Reflecting Light (Sam Philips)
- Hold Me (Fleetwood Mac)
