Meet with Fulbrighters Pratiksha and Greta
First a snapshot of a typical morning in Safdarjung Enclave. The wailing of the vegwallahs takes some getting used to.
After that intense day of sightseeing, I just planned on meeting up with Pratiksha whom I met in DC before she started her Fulbright trip. She’s been great at helping me set the trajectory of school visits, especially the Heritage school, and she is a passionate educator, poised, elegant, ambitious. It’s interesting to see someone after their Fulbright experience because it’s hard to go back to institutionalized mediocrity, it’s not so much inflated ego as it is right sized understanding of your importance and dignity as a teacher.
After getting back to Vandanas and checking out the big wedding facility, I auto’d over to Dilli Haat to have a good bite to eat and meat with Fulbright filmmaker Greta Schiller, who has been staying occasionally at Vandanas as well. After dinner we plotted a possible trek out to Sunderbans after we meet up at the Kolkata Fulbright conference. She’s going to hook me up with a copy of one of her films, No Dinosaurs in Heaven.
