NGSS Decoder
Now that my Fulbright adventure in India is over (at least physically), I’m dedicating myself to finishing out the school year strong, digging deep into the NGSS for next year, and of course awesome Professional Development during the summer.
I’ve been invited to the Exploratorium Teacher Institute in San Francisco for three weeks and I’ll be attending Space Camp for Educators for a week starting July 26.
Meanwhile I’ve dodged taking responsibility for guiding my entire school through NGSS and Maker Faire and the dozen other passion projects I have in my head. There is so much work to do and all of it requires collaboration, of which there is little to none at my school.
Fortunately I have a network of supportive colleagues online, but there’s no substitute for the teachers one is immediately surrounded with. I’m sure students agree, no matter how awesome the digital resources, the human teacher makes a big difference.
Bravo to my state of California for coming up with with their draft of a Framework. This series of documents is helping me plan my courses.
But what most people really need is a hot sharp knife to cut through all the jargon, so here is my first contribution to that cause! This one sheet will be distributed this Saturday as I work a breakfast roundtable meeting at Superintendent King’s Sharing Promising Practices forum. I’m hoping it leads to invitations to present to parents and at other schools.
