Presenting at the Science Centre

I was honored (and challenged) to give a presentation at the Science Centre during their Innovation Faire. It was great to have a chance to develop my speaking skills, I still have a long ways to go but there’s only one way to learn, right?

I’m not much of a lecturer and I was improvising the whole time, including talking from the front in what was a board room setting. In the classroom I never sit down and I’m always moving around. The audience was a mix of children and adults, adults can be a tough audience! I’ve been to many conferences and even some of the best presenters see people walk out, so you’ve got to have a thick skin. I want to give a shout out to engineer and innovator Gauri Dutt Sharma who kept me going with interesting questions, thank you! And thanks too to the parents and children who were so eager to meet me, discuss their projects and take their pictures with me.

I presented from Haiku Deck which is viewable here.

      Hey Lucas,
It’s not easy doing FaceTime because of the time difference, but we can make it happen. Maybe Mr. Gurnick can set it up. Thanks for checking out the blog, I’ll do my best to try and make it interesting. I am having a great time, it is WAY different over here!
